Best tasting rooms for holiday gifts

Robert Mondavi Winery

There IS a way to ease the pain of holiday shopping.  Having a glass of wine in hand works wonders when making tough gift buying decisions.  Even better, I have found so many tasting rooms that have curated unique gift ideas especially for the holidays.

No matter whether you have wine lovers, foodies, athletes, or book worms to buy for, you could get your entire shopping list completed in just one or two stops.

Here are my favorite tasting rooms in Napa & Sonoma for holiday gifts:

Napa Valley

  • Robert Mondavi Winery – Being on Napa’s bustling Highway 29 Robert Mondavi gets blanketed with visitors and they know a thing or two about what people want to buy at the gift shop.  For the holidays they have amped up the gift ideas.  Here I loved the holiday platters and olive oil dispensers.  The book selection here is great too.  They also have an abundance of food items like chocolates, honey, olive oils and spreads.
  • Franciscan Winery – Franciscan has no shortage of cheese boards, branded bags, books, dishes, scarves, presented with style.  It is a small tasting room but there is something for everyone.
  • Velo Vino at Clif Family Winery – For the sports fans on your list this is a definite must. For cycling jerseys and other gear definitely stop by the St Helena tasting room.  If you can’t visit their Napa location you can always order online.
  • St Supéry Vineyards & Winery – You’ll find jewelry, kitchen items and plenty more at this sparkly new tasting room.
  • Peju Winery – Always a favorite, here you’ll find an extensive collection of wine & food books, ceramics and glass blown art works.

Sonoma County

  • Ferrari-Carano Winery – Ferrari-Carano has an extensive gift selection.  Fashionistas will love the sparkly wine glass charms.
  • DaVero Winery – Ideal for the ultimate foodie.  You can’t go wrong with their olive oil which happens to be Mario Batali’s favorite.  You can also pick up lavender soaps and Italian ceramics.
  • Dry Creek Vineyard – The perfect place to find gifts for the sailor in your life.  The winery owner has a passion for sailing and the tasting room is stocked with polos, windbreakers and other sailing themed items.
  • Simi Winery – You’ll find more cycling gift ideas here along with plenty of kitchen items like dishtowels, aprons, tee shirts and caps.

Why go through the pain at the mall when you can spend the day (or more) tasting wines and shopping at the same time!
